Embark on a 4-day budget safari to two of Kenya’s most iconic parks — Maasai Mara National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park. This adventure takes you deep into the African wilderness, across vast savannahs teeming with wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and colorful local culture. At the Maasai Mara, experience the thrill of encountering Africa’s Big Five — lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino — in their natural habitat. Witness large prides of lions resting under acacia trees, graceful cheetahs scanning the plains, and majestic elephants crossing the Mara River. During the months of July to October, you may also witness the Great Migration, one of nature’s most spectacular events. At Lake Nakuru National Park, often called the "Bird Watcher’s Paradise," admire the shimmering pink hue of thousands of flamingos along the lake’s edge and spot endangered species such as the Rothschild giraffe and both white and black rhinos. The park’s woodlands, grasslands, and escarpment viewpoints offer a rich diversity of landscapes and wildlife.
After an early breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your Nairobi hotel at 8:00 AM. Depart for the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, driving through the scenic Great Rift Valley. Enjoy a short stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint to admire the breathtaking escarpment and take photos before continuing your journey through Narok town — the gateway to the Mara. Arrive at the Maasai Mara Reserve in the late afternoon (around 3:30–4:00 PM) and head straight for your first thrilling game drive. Look out for elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and big cats as the sun sets over the plains. Return to your budget safari camp/lodge for dinner and an evening around the campfire, listening to distant roars of lions and the sounds of the African night.
