ITINERARY

Distance:9 km | Hiking Time: 4–5 hours | Elevation Gain: 2,200 m - 2,800 m

  • Morning transfer from Kitale to Kapkuro Forest Station (Endebess Gate) for park entry and ranger briefing. Begin your trek through the montane forest, home to monkeys, forest antelopes, and countless bird species.
  • Ascend gently to Endebess Bluff, a rocky viewpoint offering vast views of the Trans Nzoia plains. Set up camp near the bluff for your first night in the park.
  • Overnight: Endebess Bluff Camp.
  • Meals: Lunch & Dinner.
  • Distance:10 km | Hiking Time: 5–6 hours | Elevation Gain: 2,800 m - 3,200 m.

  • Continue hiking through bamboo and forest zones with occasional wildlife sightings. Pass through lush valleys and streams before reaching the Tutum Cave, a natural lava tube cave large enough for tents. Enjoy a relaxing evening, exploring the cave surroundings and photographing the stunning landscape.
  • Overnight: Tutum Cave Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
  • Distance:14–16 km round trip | Hiking Time: 6–8 hours.

  • Early morning start for your summit day. Trek through heath and moorland zones, passing giant lobelias and everlasting flowers. Reach Koitoboss Peak (4,222 m) — the highest accessible point on the Kenyan side. Enjoy incredible views of the Elgon caldera, Ugandan highlands, and Turkana plains on clear days. Descend slowly back to Tutum Cave Camp for overnight rest.
  • Overnight: Tutum Cave Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast,Lunch & Dinner.
  • Distance:15 km | Hiking Time: 5–6 hours.

  • Begin your descent through the forest, taking in the sounds of birds and the tranquil environment. Exit the park at Kapkuro Gate and receive your completion certificate (optional). Drive back to Kitale where the adventure ends.
