ITINERARY

  • Meet your guide in Mbale and transfer to Budadiri Gate, the starting point of your adventure.Begin with a steep hike through Bagisu farmlands, banana plantations, and coffee gardens. Interact with locals and learn about their traditions.
  • After crossing the Wall of Death (a steep but safe climb with steps), enter the bamboo forest and continue to Sasa River Camp, where you’ll spend your first night in nature.
  • Overnight: Sasa River Camp (tented or hut).
  • Meals: Lunch & Dinner.
  • Trekking time: 5 hrs | Distance:6 km | Elevation gain: +600m

  • Today’s trek passes through dense bamboo and montane forest, alive with birdsong and occasional sightings of blue monkeys. You’ll reach Mude Cave Camp by mid-afternoon — the perfect base camp before the summit. Spend the evening enjoying views of Jackson’s Pool and preparing for your ascent.
  • Overnight: Mude Cave Camp

  • Set out early for summit day — the highlight of the trek! The trail leads through moorland and alpine zones filled with giant groundsels and lobelias.
  • You’ll reach Wagagai Peak (4,321m) — the highest point on Mount Elgon — for breathtaking 360° views over Uganda, Kenya, and the expansive Caldera below.After summit photos and celebration, descend gently into the Caldera and camp on its rim for an unforgettable night above the clouds.
  • Overnight: Caldera Rim Camp (wild camping on the summit plateau).
  • Meals: Breakfast,Lunch & Dinner.
  • Trekking time: 6–7 hrs | Distance:15 km | Descent: -617m

  • Cross the Caldera and begin your descent toward the Sipi side of the mountain. The landscape opens up to rolling moorlands and endless views.Kajeri Camp offers a tranquil resting point surrounded by alpine meadows — a perfect spot for photographers.
  • Overnight: Kajeri Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast,Lunch & Dinner.
  • Trekking time: 6 hrs | Distance:12 km | Descent: -723m.

  • The trail today leads into the heath and bamboo forest zones, alive with birds and monkeys. Descend gradually to Tutum Cave Camp, one of the most beautiful natural campsites on Mount Elgon, located near a small waterfall and sheltered by giant ferns.
  • Overnight:Tutum Cave Camp.
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
  • Trekking time: 5 hrs | Distance:10 km | Descent: -885m.

  • After breakfast, continue through the forest to Kapkwai Forest Exploration Centre, the park’s exit point. Your driver will meet you here for a short transfer to Sipi Falls, where you’ll enjoy a celebratory lunch and relaxing afternoon with magnificent waterfall views.
